Pakistan’s consul general in Mashhad said “sectarian and militant elements” have hindered the Pakistani government’s efforts to use existing opportunities to strengthen ties with Islamic countries, including Iran, adding that Islamabad is ready to cooperate with Iran in the campaign against terrorism because it can help promote unity among Muslims, IRNA reported on late Wednesday. Yavar Abbas also said “sectarian elements” have undermined the security of the Pakistani borders and the media “fan the flames” by giving inappropriate coverage in this regard.
