Iran’s nuclear deal and its involvement in Syria are expected to be discussed during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow on Monday, Haaretz reported. Joining Netanyahu in the meeting with Putin will be Zeev Elkin, a Ukrainian-born minister in his government in charge of Jerusalem (Beit-ul-Moqaddas) affairs and environmental protection. Putin and Netanyahu last met in person in August 2017 in the Russian resort city of Sochi. Netanyahu discussed the deal over Iran’s nuclear program with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, Ynetnews reported. Addressing European leaders at the forum, Netanyahu said he was unconcerned about the fate of the Iranian nuclear deal. “I don’t particularly care if they fix the deal, or if they cancel the deal, or nix it, the important thing for me is to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear arsenal,” he stated. Iran says its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes.
