President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday visited elderly Christians at Tehran's St. Mary Nursing Home on the first day of the new Christian year.
Rouhani congratulated the Christians who live in Iran and around the world on the arrival of year 2015.
The president told reporters on the sidelines of the visit that "Prosperity and greatness of the country is the common goal of all Iranians from every religion," adding that all Iranians regardless of their religion deserve to receive proper services and care, according to a transcript of his remarks posted on the website of the presidential office.
"The efforts by all those who are serving the nation and the public, particularly elderly people, who require greater care and support, are honorable and deserve praise," Rouhani noted.
