Pence: Time for Changes in Nuclear Deal

US Vice President Mike Pence said on Tuesday in Beit-ul-Moqaddas that the “time has come” for changes to the Iran nuclear deal, appealing to the deal’s participants to join the US in altering the Obama-era agreement.

“If our allies won’t join us, President [Donald] Trump has made clear we will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal immediately,” Pence said during a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, the Hill reported.

“But we hope in the months ahead to be able to strengthen it,” Pence added.

Trump earlier this month waived sanctions against Iran that were lifted as part of the nuclear deal. The US administration intends to impose new, non-nuclear sanctions instead in response to Tehran’s ballistic missile activity, among other pretexts.

Trump also said in a statement that the US would not waive sanctions again. He called for a fix to the existing nuclear deal from member countries and congress, and warned he would not hesitate to withdraw from the deal.
