Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari traveled to Russia on Friday to take part in trilateral talks between Tehran, Moscow, and Ankara about the peace process in Syria. Later on Friday, the senior diplomat met the Russian president’s special envoy to the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov, to hold talks about the latest developments in the region and cooperation between the two countries to help resolve regional crises, particularly the Syrian conflict, Tasnim News Agency reported.   Jaberi Ansari is to attend the trilateral talks in Sochi on Saturday about the upcoming Syrian national dialogue congress. On Nov. 19, the self-styled Islamic State terrorists were flushed out of their last stronghold in Syria’s Abu Kamal. The city’s liberation marked an end to the group’s self-proclaimed caliphate it had declared in 2014.   On Nov. 22, the presidents of Iran, Russia, and Turkey held talks on the Syrian crisis in Sochi, coming up with a plan for a national congress for peace in Syria. The congress is expected to be held in Sochi on January 29 and 30.
