A lawmaker said the plan announced by Oman to waive visa with Iran is indicative of Tehran's interest in improving relations with neighboring countries. Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the spokesman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, added that Oman has "the highest and best relations with Iran among the Persian Gulf Arab nations", ICANA reported on Tuesday. He underscored the fact that the Arab nation has always held "the same opinion as Iran in regional and international bodies." Describing the visa-free regime as the first step to further improve bilateral relations, Hosseini said the plan would particularly step up Tehran-Muscat trade level. Omani Ambassador in Tehran Saud bin Ahmed bin Khalid Al-Birwani recently announced that his country intends to remove visa requirements for Iranians as part of a plan to expand bilateral ties.
