Call to Foster Regional Defense Ties

The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to foster joint defense cooperation with the countries of the region. Defense Minister Lieutenant General Amir Hatami made the announcement on Tuesday in a ceremony for the unveiling and incorporation of missile launching warship named 'Separ' (shield) in the country's naval fleet. The ceremony was held in the northern port city of Bandar Anzali with Hatami and Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi in attendance, ISNA reported. The new domestically-built missile launching warship is described by the Iranian defense chief as the "Symbol of peace at sea". It is equipped with fire-control radar with the ability to track fighter jets and missile cruises. "We will continue this cooperation until the security of the region and its residents is ensured," he said. Hatami communicated Iran's message of peace and friendship to all countries of the region, saying, "We hope Iran's defense developments to establish peace in the region remains stable."
