Greetings to Romania

President Hassan Rouhani offered his congratulations to the Romanian people and government over the southeastern European country's national day. In a message to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Saturday, Rouhani felicitated the Romanian nation on the Great Union Day and expressed hope that the two countries would witness expansion of bilateral relations and use all capacities to develop cooperation on the global scene, Tasnim News Agency reported. He wished wellbeing and success for the Romanian president and glory and prosperity for the European country's people and government. Great Union Day, marked on December 1, is the national holiday of Romania. It commemorates the assembly of the delegates of ethnic Romanians held in Alba Iulia, which declared the Union of Transylvania with Romania. The holiday was set after the Romanian Revolution. It marks the unification of Transylvania and the provinces of Bessarabia and Bukovina with the Romanian Kingdom in 1918.
