Tehran Ready to Assist Syria’s Reconstruction

A top lawmaker voiced Iran’s readiness to assist its ally, Syria, with the reconstruction process in the postwar era. In a meeting with Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Thursday, Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi highlighted Iran’s industrial and economic capabilities, saying the Islamic Republic is ready to employ such capacities to help Syria’s reconstruction efforts after the war, Tasnim News Agency reported. Hailing Syria’s resolute battle against the plots hatched by the US, Israel and their regional allies over more than six years of militancy, Boroujerdi said the Syrian nation’s resistance will go down in history. Assad expressed gratitude to Iran for supporting the Syrian government and nation in hard times. He stressed the need for close interaction among members of “the axis of resistance” in various fields, particularly in the economic arena.
