Iran’s Ambassador to Kuwait praised the Arab country for its “balanced policy” toward regional conflicts, highlighting the efforts by the emirate to prevent the escalation of tensions by encouraging dialogue.

In an interview with Al-Kawthar TV, Alireza Enayati hailed Kuwait for its efforts to promote regional detente and for its balanced policy on regional issues such as the crises in Yemen, Syria and Iraq, Tasnim News Agency reported.

“Despite its inclusion in a Saudi-led military coalition against Yemen, Kuwait has proposed the idea of Yemeni-Yemeni talks and even undertook to host peace negotiations among Yemeni groups,” he said.

The envoy also admired Kuwait for its “remarkable efforts” to settle the diplomatic conflict between Qatar and other members of the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council, saying those attempts could help ease tensions and mark a great success for Kuwait.

Enayati referred to Kuwait’s leading role in conveying a message by (P)GCC on their willingness to boost relations with Iran.

“What matters for Iran is putting the ideas in that message into practice,” he said.

In January, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah visited Tehran to submit a message upholding dialogue from the Kuwaiti emir to President Hassan Rouhani.
