Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the drive that led to the Islamic Revolution of 1979 has not ended and it needs to advance until revolutionary ideals are consolidated and the desired Islamic civilization is created.

"Along the revolution's path, the Islamic Republic was established and we had huge achievements, but we are still a long way from reaching the desirable point and creating an Islamic government and society," he said.

The Leader was speaking in a meeting on Monday attended by the staff and students of Tehran Province's seminaries on the occasion of the opening of the academic year of theological schools, the Leader's website reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the clergy, which is tasked with continuing the path of prophets to promote monotheistic worldview across the globe, needs to employ new communications tools, particularly social media, to disseminate the "life-giving" message of Islam.

The Leader said the world is frustrated with the ineffectuality of Marxist and Liberalist schools of thought, and the resulting intellectual vacuum has prepared the ground for promoting Islamic thought.

"Today, mankind, particularly the younger generation, is desperately in need of new thoughts. Islam has thoughts on humanity, society and politics that would certainly find many followers, if it were to reach the world's ears," he said.
