Iran: Rouhani's Cabinet Wins Strong Approval

The Iranian Parliament on Sunday gave votes of confidence to 16 out of 17 ministers who had been nominated by President Hassan Rouhani for his second term.

Habibollah Bitaraf, the pro-reform candidate for the post of energy minister, was the only nominee who failed to win the parliamentarians' approval.

The president now has three months to name his new pick for energy minister. In the meantime, a caretaker will run the affairs of the ministry.

Rouhani had not introduced his choice for science ministry last week when he presented his proposed Cabinet to the Majlis.

He was expected to appoint a caretaker for the Science Ministry later in the day.
