UN Envoy, Deputy FM Discuss Yemen

The United Nations special envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, held a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari on Saturday to discuss the situation in Yemen and ways of ending the war there. In the meeting in Tehran, the UN envoy and the Iranian diplomat explored avenues for the settlement of the conflict in Yemen, Tasnim News Agency reported. They stressed the need for efforts to re-launch political peace talks in the Arab country and provide humanitarian aid for the people of Yemen who are facing famine and are buckling under a Saudi-imposed blockade. The UN envoy arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning and is scheduled to hold a meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
