Zarif Meets Hamas Delegation

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif sat down for talks with a delegation from the Palestinian Hamas movement. The Hamas delegation was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of reelected President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday. In their meeting on Monday, Zarif said Iran's stance regarding the Palestine conflict is "principled" and "irreversible", IRNA reported. Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Iran has implacably opposed the Israeli regime's occupation of Palestine and defended the rights of the oppressed nation suffering brutality at the hands of the Zionist entity for nearly seven decades. Tehran has provided support to Palestinian resistance groups standing up to the Israeli aggressions. The Hamas delegation thanked Iran over its unflagging support for the Palestinian cause. Hamas's relations with Iran have become warmer in recent months, after nearly five years of relative estrangement due to differences over the Syrian conflict.
