Oath of Office

President Hassan Rouhani is to take the oath of office in parliament for another four years today.

He won reelection in May by securing 57% of the poll on a platform of pressing on with efforts to implement economic reforms and develop international engagement. Rouhani’s second swearing-in ceremony is to be a more high-profile event than his first, as top-level delegations representing nearly 100 countries and organizations are confirmed to attend the ceremony.

The government lineup is to be unveiled after the oath-taking ceremony, where Rouhani will propose his nominees for 18 ministerial posts to the parliament for a vote of confidence.

Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei endorsed Rouhani’s presidency in a ceremony on Thursday, whose details are covered in a separate story on page 2.
