The Majlis speaker’s special advisor on international affairs hailed unity among Lebanese political groups and parties, saying Tehran will continue to support the Arab country in the fight against terrorism and Israeli acts of aggression.

In a meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Beirut on Monday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian added that Iran will keep up its support for “the anti-Israeli axis of resistance” in Lebanon, Tasnim News Agency reported.

“The people, the army and the resistance in Lebanon are known as the three main sides of victory against the Zionist regime and takfiri terrorism,” Amir-Abdollahian said, praising the current status of unity in the Arab nation.

He lashed out at the US government for interference in the Middle East issues and its destructive role in the region, saying the White House only seeks to ensure Israel’s security and exploit regional countries.

Berri expressed gratitude to Iran for its support for the Lebanese nation, government and parliament.

Pointing to the “delicate” situation in the region, the Lebanese speaker called for strong Muslim unity to dishearten terrorists.

Last week, the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement said its battle to eliminate members of the foreign-sponsored Jabhat Fatah al-Sham—previously known as the Nusra Front—militant group from the Syria-Lebanon border was mostly complete as it continues its campaign to take their last remaining footholds on the frontier.

The Lebanese resistance forces have been working in cooperation with the army to fight off terrorist groups.
