A high-ranking parliamentarian arrived in Oman's capital Muscat Saturday night to relay a message from Iran's top lawmaker. Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi is scheduled to meet Speaker of the Omani Advisory Council Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal al-Mawali to deliver a message from Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, ICANA reported. Oman has traditionally maintained cordial relations with Iran, unlike its Arab neighbors, such as Saudi Arabia, whose ties with Iran are now at their most tense in years. The Saudi government is leading a four-state push to isolate Qatar over its friendly ties with Iran and alleged support for terrorism. Earlier this month, Kuwait provoked a diplomatic spat by demanding that Iran reduce its staff residing in the Arab kingdom over its alleged support for a terrorist cell disbanded in Kuwait in 2015. Tehran has rejected any contact with the so-called terrorist cell.
