Lebanon’s Gains in Anti-Terror War Hailed

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif praised the recent victories achieved by the Lebanese Army and Hezbollah against militants near the border town of Arsal. The victories against terrorists on the Syria-Lebanon border are an “outcome of unity and solidarity” among all Lebanese forces, Zarif said in a meeting with a group of Lebanese lawmakers in Tehran on Tuesday, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The top diplomat and the Lebanese lawmakers also discussed Tehran-Beirut relations and the latest regional and international developments. On Tuesday, Hezbollah said its battle to eliminate members of the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham militant group from the Syria-Lebanon border was almost complete, as it continues its campaign to take their last remaining strongholds in the frontier region. Resistance fighters have also regained control over Komail Plain as well as Hamoudi, Baidar and Shoabat al-Nihla areas on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, 124 kilometers northeast of the capital Beirut.
