The newly-reelected President Hassan Rouhani is going to present his list of nominees for 18 ministerial seats to the parliament for a vote of confidence in his inauguration ceremony, Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Hosseinali Amiri said.

Rouhani is scheduled to take the oath of office in Majlis on August 5 and he has two weeks from the swearing-in ceremony to propose his Cabinet members. The Majlis will examine the credentials of candidates in one week and the aspirants will appear before the lawmakers to outline their plan of action. “Mr. Rouhani is working to prepare the ministerial list and plans of his [second] government for the inauguration day, so the parliament can screen their qualification earlier and the government can take shape as soon as possible,” IRNA quoted him as saying on Wednesday. Over 23 million people, out of a total of 41 million voters, cast ballots in favor of Rouhani in the May election to extend the mandate of the centrist president for another four years. Rouhani, a staunch supporter of broader international engagement and liberal reforms to the largely state-run economy, has pledged to improve the livelihood of ordinary Iranians and curb unemployment.
