Belgium Calls for Closer Cooperation

The Belgian ambassador in Tehran has called for closer cooperation to exploit the potential for promoting bilateral ties in the wake of the 2015 nuclear pact.
Officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the landmark agreement was negotiated between Iran and six major powers, and took effect in January 2016 to lift economic sanctions in return for curbing Tehran’s nuclear development.
“JCPOA has provided a great opportunity for expansion of trade and cooperation between Iran and Belgium,” Francois Delhoye also said in a meeting with the head of Iran-Belgium Parliamentary Friendship Group, Parvaneh Salahshouri, on Sunday, IRNA reported.
The Iranian lawmaker said Tehran and Brussels can build on their long history of friendly relations to promote political, economic and cultural ties.
She called for establishing a direct flight between the two countries, easing visa requirements for mutual visits by Belgian and Iranian people and holding joint cultural events to help boost mutual cooperation.
