Police forces in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan raided an arms depot run by the Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, confiscating assault rifles and ammunition, including an anti-aircraft 14.5-mm gun.

Provincial Police Commander Hossein Rahimi told Tasnim News Agency that his forces raided the arms depot in Kouhsefid region, near the city of Saravan, on Friday.

During the operation, carried out after complicated intelligence investigations, a huge amount of weapons was confiscated, including 35 AK-47 machine guns, two SPG-9 guns, an anti-aircraft 14.5-mm gun with a range of 7 kilometers and tens of cartridges, as well as a large amount of ammunition, he added.

According to the commander, members of the terrorist group had plans to use the weapons against civilians in the province.

In late April, the notorious group killed 10 Iranian border guards in a cross-border attack on the frontier with Pakistan near the city of Mirjaveh in the same province.
