In its meeting on Tuesday, the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution decided by a unanimous vote to establish December 18 as National Day of Campaign Against Violence and Extremism, ISNA reported. On December 18, 2013, the UN General Assembly adopted President Hassan Rouhani's "World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)" initiative as a formal resolution. Rouhani had made the proposal in his speech to the UN General Assembly in September 2013.
