The Navy commander announced that Iranian warships have provided security for thousands of oil tankers and cargo ships in the high seas.
“Today, there is insecurity in the Gulf of Aden and we have been able to escort over 4,000 oil tankers and cargo ships to safe regions without any disruption in our plans for oil and non-oil exports and imports,” Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Sunday, Fars News Agency reported.
He underlined that naval, ground and air borders are under the surveillance of Iranian military forces.
In remarks last Tuesday, Sayyari said naval exercises have been planned for the end of the current calendar year that ends in March 2018.
“We will hold 25 naval drills in the current year.”
The war games will be held in the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea, and will lead to the massive Velayat-96 naval maneuvers.
