Anti-Drug Agreement With Russia

Iran and Russia signed an agreement to cooperate in the campaign against illicit drugs.

Interior Minister and Drug Control Headquarters Secretary General Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and Director of the Federal Narcotics Service of Russia Viktor Ivanov signed the document which will be valid from 2015 to 2018.

In their meeting in Moscow, the two officials also discussed bilateral, regional and international relations, IRNA reported on Tuesday

According to the document, the two states have undertaken to create a mechanism to exchange operational information regarding the fields under poppy cultivation and drug production plants.  

The two sides also agreed to cooperate in drug investigations in an attempt to block drug trafficking channels in accordance with their domestic rules.  

In addition, Iran and Russia pledged to exchange information on the routes which are used to transport narcotic drugs.

Cooperation in treatment of drug addicts and the ways to prevent drug addiction has also been envisaged in the document.
