Gov't-Majlis Meeting Next Week

Gov't-Majlis Meeting Next Week

President Hassan Rouhani and his Cabinet members will host a joint meeting with lawmakers next week in a bid to promote cooperation between the two branches of government, IRNA reported, citing the vice president for parliamentary affairs. Hosseinali Amiri said the meeting will seek to "help strengthen the level of interaction between the legislature and the executive branch", seen as necessary as the government strives to deliver on promises to tackle problems in a speedy manner.  He added that during the meeting the president and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani will discuss ways to deal with a range of economic issues, in particular those which demand joint action. The current parliament, which started work in May 2016, is generally regarded as more in tune with the Rouhani administration with more reformists and moderates winning seats in the last election for the 290-member chamber.
