In a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump and Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed a range of issues, including Tehran's regional role, according to a press release by the White House.

It said the two men discussed steps to deepen mutual strategic partnership and promote stability and prosperity throughout the Middle East.  

The two also held talks on defense cooperation, counterterrorism, resolving the conflicts in Yemen and Syria and the alleged threat to regional stability posed by Iran.  

They also explored ways to increase economic cooperation.  

The press release said, "The US and UAE have a deep and wide-ranging relationship that has advanced both countries' interests for years. The president and the crown prince (are) committed to continuing that positive cooperation."
