The head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee announced on Sunday that Iran and Mexico have signed an agreement on parliamentary cooperation.
In a press conference on the achievements of a recent visit to Mexico by a parliamentary delegation, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who led the lawmakers, told reporters, "The negotiations led to the signing of an agreement on parliamentary affairs and other relations," ICANA reported.
It was agreed that the foreign policy committees in both parliaments hold meetings and consultations in Tehran and Mexico City annually, he said.
He went on to say that the two sides decided to commemorate Iran's Cultural Week in the Mexican capital city next year. It was also agreed that the two countries take measures to prepare the ground for increasing economic and business cooperation.
The lawmaker said the two parliaments pledged to try to promote parliamentary cooperation at regional and international parliamentary gatherings such as the meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and regional inter-parliamentary assemblies.
