Iraqi FM Arrives to Attend WAVE Conference

Heading a delegation, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari arrived in Tehran on Sunday.
He was welcomed on his arrival by Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, IRNA reported.
Jaafari was scheduled, in addition to his planned meetings with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other officials, to attend an international conference on "World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)", which will be held in Tehran on December 9-10.
On September 25, 2013, President Hassan Rouhani initially proposed the "World Against Violence and Extremism" initiative in his address to the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, which was later approved as a UN resolution by the world body.
On December 10, Iran offered to host an international conference on the UN resolution on the WAVE initiative.
