Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Ground Force Lieutenant General Mohammad Pakpour said the force has sent advisors to Syria to assist the anti-terror drive of IRGC's Qods Force. In an interview with Fars News Agency published on Tuesday, Pakpour said troops from IRGC's Saberin special operations battalion have also been deployed to Syria on an advisory capacity. The commander said the force under his watch would continue to send advisors to Syria and do its utmost to ensure the success of the anti-terror, but there is no need for sending organized military units to the war-ravaged Arab country. Pakpour said Iran's involvement in the six-year-old conflict in Syria was inevitable, as the crisis that flared up in 2011 was provoked by the US and the Israeli regime to deflect the global attention from the Israeli occupation of Palestine and turn the Syrian government, a pillar of the resistance front against Israel, to another puppet regime in West Asia.
