In their meeting on Friday in Washington, US President Barack Obama and Jordan’s King Abdullah discussed, among other things, the talks between Iran and the major powers on a comprehensive settlement to the long-running dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program, Reuters reported.

Obama said it was unclear whether Tehran would seize its chance for a deal in the nuclear talks with the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany).

“I briefed His Majesty about our negotiations with Iran, and indicated to him that we would prefer no deal to a bad deal, but that we continue to hold out the possibility that we can eliminate the risk of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon,” Obama told reporters after the meeting.

Iran denies the allegation that it may have been seeking to develop the capability to build nuclear bombs, saying it nuclear work is solely for peaceful applications.
