Members of the Pakistani Parliament’s national security and foreign policy commission are scheduled to visit Iran in the coming days, an Iranian lawmaker announced. Spokesman of Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naqavi Hosseini also told Tasnim News Agency on Saturday that Pakistani legislators will travel to Iran on May 6 at the invitation of his commission. “During their five-day stay in Iran, the Pakistani lawmakers plan to hold meetings with their Iranian counterparts and other officials, he said.

According to Hosseini, the visiting MPs and members of the Iranian parliamentary panel will travel to Iran’s southeastern port city of Chabahar on May 9 to evaluate the port’s “economic capacities”.

“Thereafter, the two groups will travel to Gwadar Port in Balochistan Province of Pakistan to study the opportunities for Tehran-Islamabad cooperation,” he said.

The visit will come as Iranian officials in recent days have voiced discontent at the Islamabad government’s failure to live up to its commitments under bilateral  security and border agreements and its inability to prevent terrorist attacks against Iran from militants based in Pakistan.
