Army’s Ground Forces on Sunday unveiled military products, including a homegrown sniper rifle and a mine-laying vehicle.
Two days ahead of National Army Day, Commander of Army Ground Forces Lieutenant General Kioumars Heydari unveiled the latest military products developed by local experts in a ceremony in Tehran, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The gear included a 50-mm caliber sniper rifle dubbed Heydar, a mine-laying vehicle, a trailer for carrying personnel carriers and a tactical vehicle equipped with cannon.
The sniper rifle weighs 17.5 kg with magazine and accessories, has a length of 135 cm and fires on targets at a maximum range of 3,000 meters.
The minelayer, named Heydar-5, is a vehicle capable of launching landmines in motion. It can also throw Mersad-2 anti-vehicle mines.
The trailer, weighing 18,000 kg, runs on 12 wheels and can carry two Suleiman-1 personnel carriers.
Another product unveiled in the ceremony was Heydar-6 tactical military vehicle, equipped with a 73-mm gun. Bullets fired from the cannon can penetrate the target up to 30 cm. The vehicle is also furnished with an anti-tank guided missile system.
