Terrorists Assassinate IRGC Local Commander

A commander with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has reportedly been assassinated by two terrorists in southeast Iran.

Commander Ruhollah Aali was gunned down by “two takfiri terrorists” while traveling to the Kurin District of Zahedan County in Sistan-Baluchestan Province on duty, Press TV reported on Tuesday citing Tasnim News Agency.

The assailants were subsequently killed by Basij volunteer forces, it added.

Aali was the commander of the Kurin Battalion of Brigade 110 of the IRGC’s Salman Unit, which is assigned to the province.

The IRGC has foiled numerous plots to conduct terrorist activities in Iran and arrested many “takfiri” elements.

A takfiri is a hardliner who accuses any Muslim that does not follow their extreme interpretation of Islam as apostate punishable by death.

Last June, Commander of the IRGC’s Ground Forces Lieutenant General Mohammad Pakpour said the forces had nabbed a terrorist outfit in southwestern Iran, which had admitted to receiving Saudi and American backing.
