US Strike on Syria Strategic Mistake

Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Friday's US missile assault on an airbase in Syria was "a strategic mistake".  "What the Americans did was a strategic mistake and they are repeating the mistakes of their predecessors," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with top military officials in Tehran on Sunday, the official website of the Leader reported.  US officials have said the strikes were a response to the alleged use of poison gas by Syrian forces against militants in Idlib Province earlier this week, an unproven charge vehemently denied by Damascus.
Pointing to the analysis that the US carried out the assault to signal that it is still ready to conduct military operations across the world if the need arises, the Leader said, "The Islamic Republic has shown that it will remain unfazed by such irrelevant remarks and wrong actions, and the people and officials … will not give in to threats."
