Singapore Seeks Closer Ties

Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Defense and Foreign Affairs Mohamad Maliki Osman stressed the need to boost his country’s relations with the Islamic Republic in various areas, particularly economy and culture. Speaking in a meeting with Rasoul Zargarpour, the governor general of the central Iranian province of Isfahan, Osman said the objective of his trip to Iran is to strengthen relations between the two countries, Tasnim News Agency reported on Saturday. “Based on previous experience, Singaporean and Iranian companies can have good interaction,” he said, adding that business leaders from Singapore will pay a visit to Iran within the next few months. The Singaporean minister referred to culture as a field for developing mutual bonds. The Iranian governor general highlighted Isfahan Province’s capacities and said over the past weeks, over three million tourists have visited the province. “After the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and six world powers, the number of foreign tourists to Isfahan has increased. Dramatically,” he said. Zargarpour highlighted Isfahan’s investment potential and plans for development in new technologies, saying the province welcomes Singaporean investors and tourists.
