Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned a Saudi airstrike on a residential area in Yemen's western province of Hudaydah that killed dozens of civilians on Friday. Expressing condolences to the families of victims of the attack on a local market in Khawkhah District, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi denounced the Saudi strikes against residential areas and the kingdom's move to block rescue operations by the international organizations as a "violation of human rights", Tasnim News Agency reported. Qasemi called on the UN and other international bodies to address the civilian deaths in Yemen, push for an immediate halt to the Saudi attacks and ensure the security of civilians, particularly women and children. Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and a number of its Arab allies have been launching airstrikes against Yemen with the purpose of restoring power to fugitive president Abd-Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
