Prompt Action Urged on Acid Attacks

The spokesperson for the judiciary said on Monday that Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi has been requested to take prompt action on acid attack cases in the capital.

Hojatoleslam Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei said, "We have asked the Tehran prosecutor to execute the sentences that have been given to two acid attackers in the past, whose execution had run into practical problems," the Fars news agency reported.  

He thanked police for arresting the people behind the acid attacks in Tehran and said citizens should cooperate with police to help prevent "such violent crimes."

On the acid attacks on several women which occurred in Isfahan in October, the first deputy Judiciary chief said, "The police and intelligence forces of Isfahan have been requested to arrest the people behind acid attacks, but unfortunately, the person or the people who have carried out the attacks have not been arrested yet, although some suspects have been identified."
