Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Munich on Friday to attend a security conference in the German city.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi first made the announcement on Wednesday that Zarif is participating in the Munich Security Conference.
Qasemi said at the time, "As per the schedule, the foreign minister will address the conference and hold talks with a number of foreign officials, including presidents, foreign ministers, businesspeople, heads of international organizations and political figures, on the sidelines of the conference," Tasnim News Agency reported.
Since its foundation five decades ago, MSC has become a leading international platform for dialogue on foreign and security policy.
From February 17 to 19, 2017, the 53rd edition of Munich Security Conference will bring together hundreds of decision-makers in the realm of international security.
More than 500 participants will debate critical security challenges, including the troubling state of the international order and the future of transatlantic relations after the election of US President Donald Trump, the war in Syria and the security situation in the Asia-Pacific.
Participants will also discuss terrorism and information warfare, as well as major threats to global health and climate security.
In addition to its annual flagship conference, the confab regularly convenes high-profile events on particular topics and regions, and publishes the Munich Security Report.
