Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission will convene this Wednesday to discuss the fourth Foreign Ministry report on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

JCPOA is the formal name of the July 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and major powers, which saw the country limiting its nuclear work in exchange for the removal of UN, US and EU sanctions.

Mohammad Javad Jamali, a member of the parliamentary panel, made the statement in a talk with IRNA on Monday.

He added that Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and some other Foreign Ministry officials will attend the meeting to clarify any ambiguities in the report and answer lawmakers’ questions.

Araqchi was a top member of Iran’s negotiating team that managed to sign the deal after about two years of talks with major powers.

According to a Majlis law endorsing the nuclear pact, the Foreign Ministry is obliged to provide the parliament with a report on the deal every three months. The parliamentary panel should in turn report to the legislature every six months. Since the January 2016 implementation of the deal, Iranian officials have repeatedly complained that Tehran is not receiving the full benefits promised under the deal, putting the blame on the US uncooperative approach.
