Tehran is to receive the final batch of a shipment of 149 tons of natural uranium today, announced the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

“Concurrent with the execution of JCPOA and over the last year, we have imported around 210 tons of uranium,” Ali Akbar Salehi said on Sunday, Press TV reported.

Iran and major powers started implementing the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, in January last year. Salehi noted that the shipment would bring the amount of “yellow cake” imported after the landmark nuclear deal to 359 tons, which increases Iran’s stockpile by 60%.

Under the agreement, Iran agreed to put limitations on its program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions. In accordance with JCPOA, Iran can sell its enriched uranium material and buy natural uranium or yellow cake in return. Iran’s purchase of natural uranium is monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
