The Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps launched the main phase of a major military exercise in the north-central Iranian province of Semnan.

The main stage of the drills, dubbed “Defenders of the Velayat Skies,” kicked off on Saturday after a five-day preliminary phase, Press TV reported.

Conducted in an area of 35,000 square kilometers, the maneuvers are aimed at demonstrating Iran’s power, intelligence command and defense readiness to counter any threats.

Various types of missiles and radar systems, which are designed and manufactured by Iranian experts and which have diverse ranges, are being used during the wargames.

One of the missile systems, called 3rd Khordad, has a range of 75 km and an altitude of 30 km. It is capable of simultaneously engaging several targets and conducting electric warfare with advanced technology.

Another missile system, Tabas, has a range of 60 km and an altitude of 30 km.
