IR-8 Centrifuges Tests Comply With Nuclear Accord

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said the IR-8 centrifuges tests recently conducted by AEOI are within the framework of the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive plan of Action. “The successful testing of the advanced generation of IR-8 centrifuges and injecting uranium hexafluoride [UF6] into them are of paramount importance,” Kamalvandi said on Monday, Fars News Agency reported. Kamalvandi’s remarks came after AEOI in a Saturday statement announced that the organization’s research and development department had started injecting UF6 into its highly advanced IR-8 centrifuges. According to the statement, IR-8 is the most advanced generation of centrifuges designed and developed by Iranian experts and engineers.

 The gas injection into the machine has been based on the nuclear deal that allows research activities on the eighth generation of Iran’s centrifuges, namely IR-8.
