Navy to Launch New Vessels Soon

Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced a plan to launch new domestically-developed vessels, including a submarine, a destroyer and a missile-launching warship, soon. "A Fateh-class submarine, the Sahand destroyer and another missile-launching warship" will join the Iranian Navy "in the near future", Sayyari told reporters in Tehran on Saturday, Fars News Agency reported. He announced Navy's plans to sail toward the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and stage exercises in the Indian Ocean. "We will stage the Velayat 95 naval drills in the northern parts of the Indian Ocean and the 10-degree latitude in late Bahman [the 11th month of the Iranian calendar ending on Feb. 18] which will show our might." In June, Sayyari had underlined the Iranian experts' capabilities to design and build various types of naval vessels.
