IS Ideology More Dangerous Than Its Actions

Daesh (an acronym of the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group) has turned into an ideology that is even more menacing than the terrorist group’s heinous acts, the media adviser to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps commander said.

Operationally, the terror group is on its last legs in Syria and Iraq, Hamidreza Moqaddamfar also said on Saturday while addressing a ceremony held at Tasnim News Agency’s central office in Tehran to unveil a book titled “Daesh’s Thoughts and Deeds.”

“Daesh has unfortunately turned into an ideology whose danger is even bigger than its operational activities,” he said.

“Daesh is a deviated ideology that has found followers who toe its line out of total ignorance.

The official stressed the need for countering this ideology.

Moqaddamfar referred to the origins of the terror group, saying that it was created to present a distorted image of Islam to counter the growing interest in the religion in the West.
