The director of the US State Department’s press office said on Tuesday that the talks between Iran and the major powers over the past year have brought them closer to a final deal to resolve the 12-year dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program.
“I think it’s also clear to the United States and to our partners that under the JPOA (the interim nuclear deal reached between Iran and the major powers in Geneva last year) we have made, we have come much farther than we were before the JPOA. We are light years from where we were before the JPOA and we are also closer to a deal… and that’s why we are committed to continuing to work toward that end,” Jeff Rathke said.
