A political analyst welcomed Turkey’s decision to participate in political negotiations to end the crisis in Syria, saying Ankara’s interaction with regional players like Iran and Russia will result in further isolation of Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with Tasnim News Agency published on Monday, Sadollah Zarei, an expert on West Asia developments, also highlighted the significance of the recent meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Turkey.
He noted that the three-party talks in Moscow on Syria demonstrate Ankara’s inclination to engage in political talks and a “regional process with the participation of non-Arab parties”, instead of an extra-regional process, to resolve the crisis in Syria.
“This issue could result in the US and Saudi Arabia’s isolation over Syria developments,” he said.
Last week, the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Turkey gathered in Moscow to coordinate efforts for peace in Syria following the liberation of the city of Aleppo from terrorist groups.
