Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed bilateral ties and issue of mutual interest with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday.

In the meeting on Zarif’s second day in Tokyo, the two officials talked about Iran-Japan ties and the latest regional and international developments.

The top Iranian diplomat later in the day completed his trip to Japan where he had arrived early Wednesday, IRNA reported. In Tokyo, Zarif and an accompanying 38-strong trade delegation took part in the Iran-Japan Business Forum. Addressing the forum, Zarif urged the East Asian country’s private sector to take advantage of investment opportunities in Iran and make inroads into the emerging market.

He also met his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida, and Economy Minister Hiroshige Seko.

Japan was the last leg of a three-nation tour that started last Saturday and took Zarif to India and China where he attended similar business gatherings. Zarif had also met high-ranking officials in Beijing and New Delhi, and addressed the Sixth Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia in India.
