Deputy Interior Minister for Security and Law Enforcement Affairs Hossein Zolfaqari announced that security forces have dismantled a terrorist cell that planned to carry out sabotage acts inside Iran. “Recently, a three-member terrorist team, which tried to enter the country via the western borders, was identified,” Zolfaqari told reporters in Tehran on Wednesday, Fars News Agency reported. “After identifying and tracking the terrorist cell, it was dismantled by the security and intelligence forces,” he added. Unofficial sources said the terrorists were affiliated to the self-styled Islamic State militant group that operates in neighboring Iraq.  Last month, Zolfaqari had announced that a terrorist band had been dismantled in eastern parts of Iran. Also in November, the Intelligence Ministry had said its forces had disbanded a terrorist group in the city of Garmsar in the north-central province of Semnan before they could carry out sabotage acts inside Iran.
