Regional Challenges Demand Political Solutions

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said conflicts that have turned some regional countries into hotbeds of terrorism need to be solved through political solutions, as they benefit no one, except the Israeli regime.

Speaking in a joint press conference with Indonesian Parliament Speaker Zulkifli Hasan, the top lawmaker said Tehran and Jakarta have very close views on how to settle crises in the region, hailing Indonesia’s “wise” approach.

“Muslim countries should put their heads together and rise against terrorist entities in the region,” Larijani said.

The speaker said he and Hasan discussed bilateral trade in their meeting before the press conference, saying they agreed on measures to facilitate economic interactions between the two sides’ businesses, IRNA reported.

Hasan said Iran is an influential player in West Asia and can play a big role in addressing problems there, adding that his country is eager to work with Iran.

“We agree that barbarism of the [self-styled] Islamic State [terrorist group] has tarnished the image of Islam and will not neglect the fight against terrorism,” he said.
