Senior Iranian and Belarus officials underlined the need for expansion of wide-ranging relations between the two countries. During the meeting in Minsk on Saturday, Iran’s Ambassador in Minsk Mohammad Reza Sabouri and Chairman of Belarus Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Sergey Rakhmanov discussed exchange of visits by the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups, Fars News Agency reported. The two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments. The senior Belarus lawmaker said Iran and Belarus enjoy good potential for cooperation in all areas, especially in the field of parliamentary affairs. Rakhmanov noted that enhancement of parliamentary cooperation can help deepen socio-cultural relations between the two nations. Iranian ambassador underscored the key role played by parliaments in boosting cooperation between Tehran and Minsk. In February, Iran and Belarus signed a cooperation document for 2016-18. The document was signed during a meeting in Tehran between Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour.
